strandbeest.comThis is one of the most amazing things I've seen in a while. These guys in Holland have created entirely wind-powered walking creatures from wood and plastic. You've got to check out these videos. Dutch guys don't all look like this, I guess.

Since about ten years Theo Jansen is occupied with the making of a new nature. Not pollen or seeds but plastic yellow tubes are used as the basic matierial of this new nature. He makes skeletons which are able to walk on the wind. Eventualy he wants to put these animals out in herds on the beaches, so they will live their own lives.

This is so cool! I wonder how these critters would do someplace like Kitty Hawk, NC?
