Labor Day Weekend mp3 Friday

September 2, 2005 -

The habit I've gotten into of posting music just about every other friday seems to work pretty well, so here goes. Click here to listen to what I've got.

I've got to put Stanford Counterpoint's Don't Speak cover first; it's hands down one of the best A Capella pieces I've heard in a very long time, and I don't even like the original. And I found it over at Copy, Right?. If I posted every good song I found there, I wouldn't have room for much else.

I found another really nice A Capella cover at ...hush.... It's a cover of U2's Where the Streets Have No Names.

Okay, all done with covers and with A Capella for now. Ickmusic's post about Booker T and the MG's led me to purchase the CD. Great music. Of course, it's under a RIAA label, so I had to buy it used from EBay. No soup for you, Stax!

SwedesPlease has a song by a band named Elodie that caught my attention. 1641 - check it out. The band's foreign - I have a hunch they may be sweedish.

I've been a big fan of The Jellyfish for a number of years. Their album Bellybutton is one of the only albums I know where every single track is good. Adventures of a University Finalist has posted a copy of their track Baby's Coming Back that I just had to share.

And lastly, going back to my high school days, I'm going to include a live copy of The Dead Milkmen's Punk Rock Girl that I found at The Smudge of Ashen Fluff. I highly recommend visiting the site - Canowine's always got good tunes.

Happy Friday.
