Desktop Tower Defense

April 14, 2007 - -

Desktop Tower DefenseI just found a really addictive online flash game: Desktop Tower Defense.

In the game, you've got waves of "creeps" who travel from left to right and top to bottom. You build defenses to slay the tiny smiley faces before they can get there. There are many defenses to choose from: tiny and inexpensive pellet towers, which will likely be your most common defensive item, the improved squirt towers, which fire faster and hit harder, the heavy-duty dart towers, which hit hard but fire slowly, and others that will stun or freeze the creeps.

There are also different types of creeps: normals, flying ones, groups and spawns, and even bosses.

Figuring out the game may take a few plays, but it's so strangely addictive that those plays will go by pretty quickly. I just discovered the game today, and already I've racked up over 2700 points in "normal" mode. But that level 35 and 36 just kill me every time.

SUNDAY MORNING, 1:50AM MDT: I was only planning on staying up until midnight, but I got caught up in a few games of Desktop Tower Defense. I beat the normal game a few times, having discovered the wonders of level 5 upgrades: Mostly useless sniper towers, wonderful typhoon towers, explodey ICBM towers, somewhat useful storm towers, inexpensive blizzard towers, and unneccesary quake towers. I'm so into this stupid flash game. They should publish it on the Nintendo DS.

Looks like the DNS record is lost - opendns and dnsstuff.com can't find the handdrawngames.com host - I was playing the game today - not it's offline. I'm having withdrawals.
