World War Z: The Movie

August 16, 2007 - -

World War ZI just heard some great news. It was mentioned only briefly on the GeeksOn Podcast, but I literally threw both hands in the air as I was driving and cheered. J. Michael Straczynski is writing a screenplay for a movie based on the amazing book World War Z by Max Brooks.

I'm geeking out on this. I gushed about the book when I first read it, and then I made Linda read it. My brother Glenn read it too, and I'm willing to bet my other brother Sean read it.

The plot outline for the movie as it shows on IMDB is as follows:

Ten years after the human victory over the world wide Zombie epidemic, referred to as World War Z, Max Brooks scours the world collecting the stories and experiences of those who have survived the conflict that almost eradicated humanity.

I really don't know how they plan on doing this. Lots of flashbacks, I suppose. In any event, the book was great, and I'm on board.

In other news, it seems that J. Michael Straczynski is also working on a Rising Stars feature film. I never read the comics, but heard lots of good things about them. I look forward to that too.

I wish they would get different directors to do different stories from WWZ. Or use different styles.

JMS' Rising Stars is an excellent comic, and since you like Heroes, you should check them out. It's only 3 trades, so it is not all that expensive either...
