Recipe for the World's Best Smoothie

September 13, 2007 -

I spoke to my father yesterday, and he requested that I post smoothie recipes. And since I've been writing about video games a bit too often of late, I've decided to do so.

When we first moved here to Colorado, before I'd found a job, I got myself in the habit of making Linda a smoothie for breakfast every morning before she'd head off to work. During this time, I tried a lot of different things in the smoothie - some worked, some didn't. I quickly grew to dislike strawberries in the smoothie, and grew to love almond milk. About the almond milk ingredient: Linda and I aren't into soy-type stuff generally, and the smoothies are the only thing we ever use almond milk for. It's just that you really need something liquid to make sure the smoothie isn't too thick, and almond milk has a really nice flavor.

So here's the recipe. Give it a shot, at least once. It's as good as ice cream, and much healthier.

Greg's Cherry-Pear smoothie

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 bosc pear, cut into slices
  • Some frozen cherries (I dunno, maybe a cup, maybe a half cup - I never measure)
  • Some almond milk (I dunno, maybe a cup, maybe a half cup - I never measure)

Throw all the above ingredients in a blender and blend until blent. You don't need to add ice cubes, because you've bought frozen cherries. The cherries have no pits, and work really well in a smoothie. Also, be sure to add only one pear to the smoothie or else you'll be on the toilet all day.
