Steve Vai's Sex Wax

December 12, 2007 - -

Steve Vai Sex WaxIt's been a while since I've uploaded anything new on YouTube, but I went through the old VHS tapes again recently and came up with one of my favorites. Granted, I'm not in it, and it's a horrible transfer, but this clip has always cracked me up. I just wish the transfer from VHS had come out better so you could better see the expressions on Kevin's face, which to me are a big part of what makes the video so funny.

My friends Kevin Bonneville and Karl Maske from high school did this incredibly silly fake commercial for a product they called "Steve Vai's Sex Wax", which was ostensibly a guitar polish. Hilarity ensues as the actual light bulb in the room they were using blew out halfway through their skit, and they just kept going. Here follows a transcript. Keep in mind that they were just totally messing around with no script.

I went to the store the other day. I was a guitar player. I wanted to learn how to play better. So the guy said "Hey! Maybe you oughta use..." Said "well this looks good."

Steve Vai Sex Wax. Guitar polish. Put it on the thing for your guitar. It says "I use it, so what don't you?"

Steve Vai's. To use this, you gotta shake well. I hope it's well shooken yet. It says "shake for a half hour." But I don't want to shake it that long. It says "For to use... everywhere!"

Let's try some of this on the guitar.
(puts it on guitar)
OK. Good enough. Let's rock and roll!
(plays)
(light bulb blows)
Hey. The light just went out.
whoa!

??? (no idea what gets said here)

This stuff works good. Next time you go to the guitar shop, Vai... Sex wa... Steve Vai's Sex wax. Okay that's Steve Vai's sex wax. Don't forget it. Ready? Wanna write the place?

Manufactured by Steve Vai Sex Wax, I Wanna Play, California. 66600. Don't forget the zip code cause that's important.

I've still got to dig up more of the really good videos we did, but I'm having trouble finding those VHS tapes. Hopefully when I find them they transfer better. So until Paul decides to allow me to post his best video on YouTube, you'll have to settle for the Steve Vai Sex Wax commercial. Enjoy.
