Ding Dong, DRM is Dead

January 4, 2008 -

One of my biggest complaints about the music industry has always been DRM, or Digital Rights Management. It's second only to the music industry's lawsuits. But now, the last of the hangers-on, Sony Music, is preparing to sell DRM-free music.

Since I've been using a portable music player, I've never used any format other than mp3. Those wma and aac files too often contain copy protection or other garbage. So I'll give a little hoot here, and music fans everywhere will celebrate.
