Digsby

June 18, 2008 -

DigsbyMichelle introduced me last week to a great little IM application called Digsby. I've been very happy with Pidgin for a long time now, having started using it when it was still GAIM. But Digsby has won me over.

In addition to handling AIM, Yahoo, GTalk, MSN, and a bunch of other IM protocols, you can route email through it. So I can now send gmail messages via Digsby, which is very convenient. And best of all, it acts as a Twitter client. No longer do you have to pull up a browser every few minutes to see if anyone tweeted. New tweets are routed directly to an unobtrusive popup window which quickly disappears. You can check a history from the Digsby buddy window. Very nicely implemented. And for those of you who like MySpace or Facebook, it's got integration for those as well. Although I set up a token MySpace profile probably 5 years ago, I think I've visited it once in the intervening years. As long as it redirects people to this site, I'm happy. It's not like I'm hard to find on google or anything.

Anyway, try out Digsby.
