Gas gauge

Gas gaugeBecause I have nothing to write about, I thought I'd show you my gas gauge. For a half tank, it reads "1/2", which is fine. But for a full tank, it reads "1/1". Something about that feels off to me. I know there's a joke here that I really should be making, but I'm feeling less than inspired today. All my creativity is being poured into a different website which I'm hoping to launch by the end of this month.

This is perhaps the most boring blog post evar. Due to that, I grace you with this link.

I want a gas gauge that displays "FAIL" when it gets to empty.

Just to keep things even, I suppose it should read 0/2--1/2--2/2 or maybe 0/4--1/4--2/4--3/4--4/4.

What the hell ever happened to just plain old E--|--|--|--F ?

Everybody knows that kids are just too stupid to do fractions because of water fluoridation, a Commie plot, and them A-tomic bombs.

The metric system was invented by a bunch of Evil Frenchmen to eliminate fractions, right?

Well, at least it isn't binary. I imagine that would get frustrating.

It would? Really?

0 = Empty

1 = Full

Simple as it gets.

... On second thought, you could install perhaps 4 or 8 binary fuel gauges running in a horizontal like across your dash, but that would make too much sense.

OK, then . . .

Three LEDs on the dashboard--

X = ON, O = OFF

XXX = Full
XXO = 6/7
XOX = 5/7
XOO = 4/7
OXX = 3/7
OXO = 2/7
OOX = 1/7
OOO = Empty

I was trying to avoid that solution, but the more I think about it... The more I like it.
