Fall Television

August 20, 2008 -

Can it really be nearly September again? Damn, summer went quickly. At least the good TV shows are coming back on in about a month.

There are a lot of shows like Chuck, Big Bang Theory, Pushing Daisies, How I Met Your Mother, and My Name is Earl that I might like if I ever started watching them, but haven't yet gotten into. If I wanted to start, I'd have to catch up entirely on the series, and at this point it ain't gonna happen. So which shows am I looking forward to?

House - House is one of those shows where if I miss an episode I won't freak out and go all Bittorrent like I would with 24 or The 4400. But I do enjoy watching it. House is a dick, and we all know that. But damn is he funny.

Fringe - Don't know much about the show yet, and not sure if I'll like it, but it seems science-fictiony, and Linda wants to give it a shot. So we shall.

Sarah Connor Chronicles - I really expected this show to suck. I expected FOX to cancel it after two episodes. I was surprised to find it was a decent show. Hopefully it continues to not suck.

Heroes - Lots of people seem a bit down on Heroes after last season aborted due to the writers' strike. But I still enjoy the show, and I hope that it picks back up and remains good.

Dexter - Currently my favorite show on TV. Never thought I'd be a fan of the charismatic vigilante serial killer, but the show is just so well written, and it's got such great characters. Love it.

I'd love to hear everyone else's favorite shows. Am I missing anything blantantly great?

I am probably going to do a similar post in the coming days, but here are the shows i'm probably going to watch.

Heroes, Fringe, True Blood, Smallville, House or Bones (whichever one is on when I have the night off, my TiVo player is down for the count)...

Hmm... True Blood. Think I've heard of that one. Might have to check it out.

I'll definitely be watching Fringe and Dollhouse next season. Dollhouse is Joss Whedon's next series, I'll try anything he is involved with.

I really think you should be watching Chuck. There are only nine episodes to catch up on from last season if you're interested. I think it's the funniest show on TV.

Smallville: The final scene of the season 7 finale was a perfect ending to the series. No need to change anything! The Fortress of Solitude collapsing on both Clark and Lex killing them is exactly what the story needed. Not exactly consistent with the original tale, but they stopped worrying about continuity years ago.

Still... I'll probably watch season 8 and wonder to myself "Why?"
