The Lost Room

August 25, 2008 - -

The Lost RoomJust wanted to drop a note here about a show Linda and I just started watching. It's called The Lost Room, and it originally aired in December 2006 on the Sci Fi Channel. I'd heard good things about it, but never got around to watching it.

This weekend, Linda and I saw the first disc. After the first episode, we were hooked. The show's premise is that there exists a supernatural room which can only be accessed by use of a unique key. When the key is used to open any door's lock, that door will open into the extradimensional Room instead of to where it should. When you leave The Room, you can exit via any door on the planet. In this way, the room can be used to quickly travel anywhere.

All Objects that were originally in The Room now have supernatural powers. The key is only one of them, and there are at least a hundred Objects. Many cults and cabals have formed around The Objects, each with a different belief about their origins and meaning.

We'll probably watch the conclusion of The Lost Room next weekend. Can't yet say how I'll like the ending, but from what I've seen, I wish they'd made it into a full-fledged series.

Sounds like a pretty interesting show, reminds me of the interdimensional Hall in the Raymond Feist novel I just read. Although I have zero time for new shows I'll attempt to watch this on a lunch break sometime.

I seem to recall this was pretty good. I also seem to recall that, like so many others, the guys writing this thing didn't seem to know how to wrap it up.

Hope you enjoy it, though.
