True Blood

The first of the flood of September television comes this Sunday with a new show called True Blood. The premise is that Vampires have lived amongst humans for thousands of years as the very predators as which they're always portrayed. But now, a Japanese company is producing a synthetic blood called "TruBlood", which will allow vampires to co-exist without victimizing humanity.
The show takes place in a small Louisiana town, where a telepathic waitress named Sookie Stackhouse falls in love with a vampire. I'm not sure how much I'll like the show, but I'm willing to give it a shot. It stars Anna Paquin, and I liked her in X-Men, so we'll see this Sunday whether the show's worth watching.
Unfortunately, I thought Anna Paquin was one of the worst actors in X-Men 3, but it could have been that they turned Rogue into such a lame character. I'll give her another shot.
It's what you kids get for not reading _real_ SF. Start with Bram Stoker and Percy's wife, you know--the one who wrote that book on a bet with Byron and Shelly-- what's-her-name--Mary?
