Rebirth

November 10, 2004 -

I've just completed the first layout in a major redesign of the site. I've only got the water layout available now, but I'm working to finish a new one as quickly as I can, and the new one is much better than the water layout.

You'll notice lots of new content everywhere: A wishlist I coded myself, a list of news items, category icons, new fiction, and new resources. Comment and let me know what you think!

And . . . you broke the rodent scroll button in Firefox again!

It's not me! Scrolling divs have never worked in Firefox! I disavow responsibility!

Something else interesting, if a bit on the technical side: If you come to my page directly from outside, you'll see that the contact page link is replaced by a link to a spambot trap, which I labeled "guestbook". Apparently, spambots generally don't pass referrer strings. My other option was to check user agent, which is often faked, or cookies, which many legit users disable.

OK -- OK -- You explained the divs problem to me before. I'm just busting your chops. :-)

I'm not finding the Contact Page link. I see a splash screen, then the main page loads.

Are you planning to put the "Archives" list back?

Nice job -- looks really good.

OOOPS! OK. It's the "guestbook" link. Disregard last transmission . . .

Actually, the "guestbook" link is for spambots - it only shows up when there's no referrer string. I thought that meant that new entrants to the site wouldn't see it, since the "splash" page referred them in, but apparently that doesn't count. I should change the text size to zero or something - I don't think bots read css.

Anyway, if you follow any link, you should see "guestbook" change to "contact".
