I've been an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi books since I can remember - reading C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and the book that really dragged me into it all - Terry Brooks's Elfstones of Shannara, which I read when I was 14. I still read a lot, and I've taken to posting reviews of the books here. Enjoy.
Wizard's First Rule, by Terry Goodkind
Wizards' First Rule is in my opinion the only good book in Terry Goodkind's series, and I've read them all. Faith of the Fallen was the only other book in the series that came close.
One of the main reasons I liked this book was because the author has such a good knack for making his reader squirm. For example, one part of the book had me feeling seriously claustrophobic, while other portions had me feeling seriously repulsed. Not for the weak-stomached, but I'd still recommend it. Too bad the characters can be a bit shallow and unbelievable at times, and the love story might have you rolling your eyes.
