I've been an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi books since I can remember - reading C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and the book that really dragged me into it all - Terry Brooks's Elfstones of Shannara, which I read when I was 14. I still read a lot, and I've taken to posting reviews of the books here. Enjoy.
Woken Furies, by Richard K. Morgan

More twists than a martini bar. More turns than NASCAR. The third book in Richard K. Morgan's Takeshi Kovacs trilogy really gets the main character back to his roots, and has some really inspired suprises in the complex storyline.
Woken Furies has as much sex and violence as ever. It's definately a better book than Broken Angels, but not up to the standards of the amazing Altered Carbon.
The entire book takes place on Kovacs's homeworld, Harlan's World, where ancient satellites built by the extinct, yet highly advanced Martian race prevent any air travel. With distant-future technology, but no airplanes or communication satellites, some interesting technological possibilities arise.
I also very much appreciated the mimint subplot, which has to do with intelligent robots that have taken over a destroyed city. The Battle Against The Machines is always a welcome scifi plot.
Overall, a great read.
