I've been an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi books since I can remember - reading C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and the book that really dragged me into it all - Terry Brooks's Elfstones of Shannara, which I read when I was 14. I still read a lot, and I've taken to posting reviews of the books here. Enjoy.
American Gods, by Neil Gaiman
This being the first Neil Gaiman book I've read, I wasn't sure what to expect. And while it certainly wasn't a bad book, I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd wanted.
The book's main character is named Shadow. And throughout the book, he finds himself bumping into gods. Mostly gods from other countries who you've never heard of. These old gods are finding that no one believes in them anymore, instead worshiping money, television, and pop culture. A war is brewing between the old gods and the new.
Somehow, the book just didn't do it for me. Thus, I won't be reading Anansi Boys, the sequel.
