I've been an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi books since I can remember - reading C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and the book that really dragged me into it all - Terry Brooks's Elfstones of Shannara, which I read when I was 14. I still read a lot, and I've taken to posting reviews of the books here. Enjoy.
Death Masks, by Jim Butcher
I'm no longer surprised by the fact that every single Dresden Files book is so good. The story stands on its own, yet draws heavily on all that has come before. It also doesn't wrap up every plot thread, hinting at much to come.
The war that Harry started between the Red Court of Vampires and the White Council of Wizards is on full steam, but that's only a minor sideplot in this book. The Fallen are in Chicago, and planning a plague that will wipe out the city, and likely kill tens of thousands.
