Upcoming Books

June 17, 2005 -

Over the next six months, there are way too many books being released for which I've been eagerly waiting.

I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but about a year ago, I became a fan of the Harry Potter books. The first book, and to a slightly lesser degree the second one, were too much childrens' books for my taste. That's why I'm glad I started with book four, which is something I'd never have done had I originally planned on reading the entire series. In any event, on July 16th, they're planning on releasing the next book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and I suppose I'll have to jump on the bandwagon despite how much it makes me feel like a silly fanboy.

I recently picked up Dean Koontz's Frankenstein, which I found I loved. The sequel to what I imagine will be at least a three book series is being released on July 26th, and I'll waste no time in grabbing a copy of that.

The books I'm really waiting for don't start coming out until later in the year. Robert Jordan's Knife of Dreams is being released on October 11th, at which point fantasy fans from all over the universe will converge on bookstores and buy it out within hours. I only hope that Robert Jordan sticks to his promises and finishes up his series in twelve books.

Lastly, on November 8th, George R.R. Martin is releasing A Feast for Crows, the fourth book in his Song of Ice and Fire series, which I think is just as good as Robert Jordan's books. I'll be snatching that one up the day it's released.

Nope - it's book eleven. RJ says he hopes to finish in twelve books, which I suppose means he might stretch it to thirteen. We'll see.

Hi Greg, I guess we share similar tastes in fantasy novels. :)
