Lady in the Water

August 9, 2006 - -

Lady in the WaterLinda and I watched The Lady in The Water last night. Good film. I was a huge fan of Signs, and I've enjoyed most of M.Night M. Night Shyamalan's other films, but I still went in without high expectations. Expectations can ruin your enjoyment of a film.

Looks like this is the first film in which M. Night has given himself more than a walk-on role. He had a good amount of screentime and a good number of lines in this film. I've heard the film described as a fairy tale, but I was glad to see that it still wasn't too G-rated or too childish to keep me entertained.

Shyamalan does an excellent job mixing action, drama, and humor in this movie, which is one of the things I loved about Signs. He's got great characters too, including one who works out only the right half of his body. How funny is that? The guy's right side is huge.

I'm not able to go a lot of the plot without giving too much away, but I did really enjoy the movie, and I'd recommend it. Plus, Bryce Dallas Howard wears nothing but a button-down shirt the entire movie. That's a plus.
