Heroes

August 11, 2006 -

Looks like NBC has a new show that's jumping on the X-Men/4400 bandwagon. It's called Heroes, and it looks like it might actually be pretty good.

Some people are born to be extraordinary.

They thought they were like everyone else... until they woke with incredible abilities. In Japan, a lowly office worker can teleport at will. In New York, a struggling artist can paint the future. In Los Angeles, a discontented beat cop can hear the thought of others.
Elsewhere, a high school cheerleader discovers she is unbreakable and a single mom realizes she has a powerful alter ego. Heroes chronicles the lives of these people and the lives of others like them - whose destiny just might be saving humankind.

HeroesThe Heroes web site has some pretty good video content - a good long teaser trailer for the show, and video bios of many of the characters. I have no idea where they'll go with the show, but there are some great plot possibilities. Will it be like the 4400? Will the government get involved? Will they don costumes and have alter-egos? Will they form a kind of Justice League? It might be interesting if they go the masked super-villain route with at least one character. We'll have to wait and see.

NBC is going to be airing the show Monday nights, probably starting in September. Hopefully Fox doesn't choose to show 24 on the same night. At least I've got a TiVo.
