Name That Alien

November 2, 2007 -

Name That AlienA while back, I did a Name That Robot quiz. Now, I bring you Name That Alien.

We've got nine aliens from across different television shows and movies. Some are easy, others are more obscure. I couldn't find a good picture of the Visitors from the old TV show V, but I found others. Just feel lucky I didn't use the picture of Plavalaguna I found - that would have been hard.

As usual, you can click the picture here to get the big version. And as usual, no Googling to find answers. I'll post answers Monday or Tuesday.

Well, the upper right is a Drak and the bottom center is a Englishman wearing a prosthetic forehead/skullcap.

Needless to say, I wouldn't make a great Xenobiologist (Exobiologist, Astrobiologist, whatever).

... I should have clicked on that picture earlier. The middle right is a Mangalore.

Hmm.

1. From Andromeda, I think. Don't know the name.
2. Forrest Whittaker as one of the Psychlos. I think that's how it's spelled. I don't recall his name, but I believe John Travolta's character (also a Psychlo) was Tarl.
3. Lou Gossett, Jr. from Enemy Mine. I can't remember what Dennis Quaid called him.
4. George (originally Sam) Francisco, from the television series based on Alien Nation. Mandy Patinkin played the part in the film.
5. Hoo, boy. That's from The Last Starfighter, but I'm drawing a blank on the name of the character or race.
6. Gah. From The Fifth Element, a film I refuse to watch again.
7. It's the blue chick from Farscape! I think she has an apostrophe in her name! I really should have watched that show.
8. "By Grabthar's Hammer, you will be avenged!" Alan Rickman is playing Alexander *mumblemumble*, who in turn plays the alien Dr. *humbrfuffle* in Galaxy Quest.
9. Not ringing any bells.

The blue girl from Farscape was called Zan (However that's spelled)
And the guy from Last Starfighter was Zentauri (Though i'm not sure if this was the race or the name)
The ugly creatures from The Fifth Element were the Mangalor.

The lower right looks familiar, but I couldn't even name the movie

ANSWERS

UPPER LEFT: Anyone remember Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict? I never watched it myself. But these are the Taelons, the series's main alien race. Not surprising that nobody recognised it.
TOP CENTER: This is Forrest Whittaker playing a Psychlo in Battlefield Earth. Horrible movie. Excellent book. Credit to KJ here.
UPPER RIGHT: This is Jeriba the Drac from Enemy Mine. PMD got it.

MIDDLE LEFT: This is Mandy Patinkin playing George Fransisco the "Newcomer" from Alien Nation, as guessed by KJ.
MIDDLE CENTER: This is Grig from The Last Starfighter, whose race was never really named. KJ at least recognised the movie.
MIDDLE RIGHT: These are Mangalores from The Fifth Element - KJ got the movie, and Sven remembered the race.

BOTTOM LEFT: This is Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan the Delvian from what is probably my all-time favorite Sci-Fi TV show, Farscape. KJ got the show name, and Sven remembered her name.
BOTTOM CENTER: This is Alan Rickman's character Alexander mumblemumble, who in turn plays the alien Dr. humbrfuffle in Galaxy Quest, as Kris so eloquentlt put it.
BOTTOM RIGHT: Lastly, the one I wouldn't have gotten if I were taking this quiz, since I never watched Stargate. This is an Unas.
