Batman: No Man's Land, by Greg Rucka

This is amongst the best comic-based novels I've read. The book is certainly dark, which I suppose is part of the Batman idiom. While I don't fancy myself a comic enthusiast, the story was well-told and I enjoyed it.

You may have heard the old clips of William Shatner singing Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds or Mister Tambourine Man, but I'm willing to bet you haven't seen the video footage of his performance of Elton John's Rocketman. Yikes.
