Poets of the Fall

July 1, 2015 - -

The music I listen to while I work varies a lot. I listen to soundtracks, I listen to Daft Punk, I listen to video game music, and I listen to classic rock. It's interesting - I've found that with certain musicians that I've listened to for a while now, their most recent stuff is my favorite. Poets of the Fall is no exception.

I got started on the band after catching Odin and Tor in Alan Wake, a game I very much enjoyed. A friend told me that if I liked The Old Gods of Asgard's music, I should check out Poets of the Fall, since that was the actual band who performed the music. I got a couple of their albums, enjoyed them, and listened quite a bit.

But it wasn't until more recently that I picked up their most recent two albums, Jealous Gods and Temple of Thought. This is the good stuff.

I've often commented that they sound like a mix of Queensryche, Jethro Tull, and Jack Black. But their most recent album has got amazing tracks like Skin and the title track Temple of Thought. I am so digging this stuff right now. Take a listen.
