Perhaps I'm just getting used to the Dresden stories and taking them for granted, but the fourth book in the series seemed to lack the pizazz of the earlier works. That being said, it's still better than most of what I read.

The universe of The Dresden Files has by now had a chance to build up quite a bit of complexity, and the story is complex and multi-layered. Amidst the backdrop of a looming war between wizards and vampires, the main enemies in this story are not vapires, or werewolves, or other wizards. They're creatures of faerie: The sidhe, ogres, trolls, and lots of others. Of course, things are never black and white, and there are allies as well as enemies.

Overall, I very much enjoyed the book, even if not as much as Storm Front.
